What We Do
Early Music Missouri presents concerts of Medieval, Renaissance & Baroque music featuring traditional repertoire by masters like Bach, Handel, and Monteverdi as well as long-forgotten music by lesser-known composers.
Our concerts are created and performed by Early Music specialists who sing and play in historically appropriate styles. Concerts feature instruments appropriate to each era including Renaissance and Baroque violins, viola da gamba, harpsichord, lutes and early guitars, Baroque flute and oboes and more.
"Confitebor tibi Terzo" by Claudio Monteverdi, performed by the Early Music Missouri Chamber Ensemble.

Our Mission
-
Performance
Early Music Missouri presents six Mainstage Concerts in St. Louis each season as well as several intimate chamber performances. In addition, Early Music Missouri ensembles and soloists tour concert programs across the region and country with appearances on concert series and on university campuses. Our performers include a core of local singers and instrumentalists who are joined by regular out-ot-town guest artists. Concert repertoire covers the gamut of Early Music repertoire from Gregorian chant to Bach's cantatas, from intimate Renaissance lute songs to High Baroque masses for choir and orchestra.

Education
Early Music Missouri is dedicated to spreading the word about Early Music across our region. Our performers and scholars regularly offer lectures, workshops, demonstrations and classes on university campuses and for community and educational organizations. Our presentations reach elementary and high school students, adult learners and university students, through formal lecture-demonstrations about Historical Performance Practice and historical instruments as well as coaching sessions and master classes.
