Lenten Meditations for Voice & Lute
Early Music Missouri presents a seasonal program of 16th- and 17th-century devotional music for voice and lutes. The program features English music including songs and lute solos by John Dowland as well anonymous songs composed for private devotion.
Soprano Samantha Arten has a wide-ranging career as a scholar, performer and educator. She has numerous publications and conference presentations, serves on the music faculty at Washington University in St. Louis and Maryville University, and performs with numerous local ensembles including the Bach Society of St. Louis and the St. Louis Women’s Chorale. Samantha not only appears regularly as a soloist and in vocal ensembles with Early Music Missouri but also serves as the organization’s Associate Director. Jeffrey Noonan, founder and director of Early Music Missouri, has played early plucked instruments across the region for over forty years.
